March 18, 2010 - Without a doubt, one of the most active proponents of energy efficiency during the last 40 years has been Art Rosenfeld who recently retired as a commissioner at the California Energy Commission (CEC). Rosenfeld is a distinguished physicist, earning his Ph.D. at the University of Chicago under Nobel Laureate Enrico Fermi, and in 2006 was honored with the Enrico Fermi award for scientific achievement by President Bush.

March 8, 2010 - ENERGY STAR adds another new product group to its expanding stable of efficiency programs with the start of a development process for its first uninterruptible power supply (UPS) specification.

Targeting UPSs makes sense since they’re commonly used throughout the small office, home office and enterprise data center markets. Plus, they fit in nicely with the experience that ENERGY STAR previously acquired during program development for power supplies, battery chargers, and data center IT equipment.

2010년 2월 26일 - 효율 스펙에 대해 얘기할 때 개인적으로 한 가지만큼은 별로 건드리지 않는 부분이 있는데, 바로 스펙이 실제로 제대로 동작되도록 하기 위한 테스트이다. 스펙이 갈수록 까다로워지면서, 특히 의무사항일 경우에는 더욱 그러하듯이, 호환성을 기록하고 인증하는 능력은 더욱 큰 고심거리가 아닐 수 없다. 실제로 많은 표준 기관들이 제품 인증을 받도록 공인 랩으로부터 써드파티의 테스트를 요구하고 있는 실정이다.

2010년 2월 9일 - 에너지 효율 스펙 1단계에서 2단계로의 이동은 원래 2단계 전력 소비 제한 요건들이 적절한가를 보장하는 검토 과정이 충분히 이루어지지 않아, 향후 발효 일정에 대해 이해관계자들의 간략한 공지 및 스펙에 대해 제한을 두고 있다.

2010년 2월 3일 - ENERGY STAR는 가정과 사무실의 에너지 호그 (energy hog)를 꾸준히 추적하고 있다. ENERGY STAR의 보호를 받는 차세대 제품들은 SNE (small network equipment)이다. 이것은 유선 라우터 및 스위치, IEEE 802.11 (a.k.a. "wi-fi")의 액세스 포인트, 커넥티비티 (리피터 포함), 광대역 모뎀 (DSL 및 케이블), IHAD (integrated home access device), ONT (optical network termination)를 포함한다.
