  ENERGY STAR has released a final 1.0 spec for Solid State Lighting Luminaires. See table below for details.
Sponsored by the Department of Energy and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). One of the most visible certifications world-wide with energy efficiency specifications for consumer electronics, office equipment, appliances and external power supplies.  ENERGY STAR is working closely with countries around the world to harmonize efficiency standards, including close collaboration with China's CECP.  See also: International Energy Star for more details.

PRODUCT Max Standby / Min Efficiency

SSL luminaires shall not draw power in the off state with the following exceptions:

  • Integral occupancy, motion, photo-controls or individually addressable fixtures with external control and intelligence shall not exceed 0.5 W in the off state.

Power Factor:

  • Residential ≥0.70
  • Commercial ≥0.90
