Set-top Boxes "In May 2004, the International Energy Agency held an International Workshop on Saving Energy in Set-Top Boxes, where government representatives from around the world declared set-top box power consumption as an "Energy Emergency". Global interim target limits of 8 W active and 1 W standby for low-end boxes were agreed upon. In addition, the remote control will be required to easily switch the box from active to standby.
