Energy Saving Labeling Program (Japan) (ECCJ)

The Energy Conservation Center, Japan (ECCJ), promotes the efficient use of energy, sustainable energy development, and protection against global warming. The voluntary Energy Saving Labeling Program was launched on August 21, 2000, allowing consumers to compare energy efficiencies of like products when making a purchase. As of August 2004, there were 13 target products as part of the program including air conditioners, fluorescent lights, TVs, refrigerators, freezers, space heaters, gas cooking appliances, gas burning heaters, oil burning water heaters, electric toilet seats, computers, magnetic disk units, and transformers.
