Participating electric utilities and efficiency organizations are offering financial incentives paid to PC and power supply manufacturers for qualifying units.

Agency: The Green Grid (was Climate Savers)

The Climate Savers Computing Initiative has combined with The Green Grid and its programs continue within that organization. The Green Grid is a nonprofit, industry consortium of end-users, policy-makers, technology providers, facility architects, and utility companies collaborating to improve the resource efficiency of data centers.

Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) seeks to enhance the responsible development and use of Canada's natural resources and the competitiveness of Canada's natural resources products. Included in NRCan's initiative are the establishment of energy efficiecny regulations and standards.

Agency: US Federal Government Executive Order 13221 (1-watt standby)

The US Executive Order 13221 mandates that all federal agencies, when purchasing products, choose those with low-standby energy consumption. The Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) was charged by Bush to implement the plan and has released the FEMP Standby Levels.
