LNK606 Shutdown

Is it possible to disable the LNK606 by shorting the BP/M pin to the source (S) pin? Will this damage the part due to overheating of the internal 6V regulator? I am operating this part from a DC bus with a maximum voltage of 160V.

Shorting BP/M pin to the source pin

The maximum BP/M pin charging current from the input is around 7mA at BP=0V.

If your maximum input voltage is 160VDC, the power dissipation in the device will be around 1.1W, and it is necessary to provide good thermal enviormnent to keep the junction temperature to be less than 150 deg C.

Thanks for your feedback Skywalker.

I'm only going to short the BP/M pin to source to shut down the LNK606 in the case of an abnormal fault, so if the LNK606 overheats and goes into thermal shutdown, that's OK. Do you know if the internal 142C thermal shutdown in the LNK606 shuts off the 6V regulator to prevent thermal runaway/failure in the event BP/M is shorted to source?

No bias voltage - No OTP protection

If there is no bias voltage due to shorted BP pin, there will be no over tempeature protection either.

Can we shut down IC by keeping the Vfb below Vfb(AR)=0.65V?
If we pull down the FB pin.

I suspected that would be the case.
Thanks for your help.
